Becoming a Trust School : The Proposal
Redhill Governors took a decision in 2007 to explore the potential benefits for Redhill School students and families in becoming a Trust, along with Thorns Community College, Pedmore and Ridgewood Schools. The Governors propose that Redhill School should become a Foundation School supported by a Trust from September 2008.
The Government, through the Department for Children, Schools and Families, clearly states that it expects all secondary schools to become Foundation schools though, as yet, no time scale has been set.
Why is this being proposed? The main reason for the suggested change is to enable the school to join three other secondary schools in acquiring a Trust. This issue of Trust status is also the subject of a separate consultation by Thorns Community College, Pedmore Technology College & School, and Ridgewood High School.
The Local Authority The proposed change in status to a Foundation school is supported by John Freeman, the director of Dudley Children’s Services, just as the proposal to acquire a Trust with all four secondary schools also has this Local Authority support.
Redhill School encourages Parents, Carers, Staff and other interested parties to read the Proposal Document contained in the two files below.
